Slow-Cooked Green Beans

BY AMANDA DELAURA
Serves 4
INGREDIENTS
3 lbs French green beans
5 pieces bacon
1 onion, thinly sliced
2 cups bone broth
Salt & pepper, to taste
DIRECTIONS
  1. Bring a large pot to medium heat and cook three pieces of your bacon till crispy. Remove from pot and let cool on paper towels to allow any excess fat soak into the towels. Once cooled, crumble into small pieces.
  2. Add your onions to the pot with bacon fat and deglaze your pan. Once the onions are softened and translucent add the green beans and broth. Bring to a boil and then let simmer for 40 to 45 minutes, till soft.
  3. Season with salt and pepper. Plate green beans into a serving bowl. Top with any extra juices, as desired and sprinkle crumbled bacon over green beans. Delicious with my roasted pork tenderloin recipe!
